Go in side and walk into the garage. Look above door, see spring in two pieces...#@($ Monday afternoon we'll be the proud owners of a new garage door spring. Thank god it's not the whole door. And what good is a #@$(*& home warranty, if it DOESN'T COVER THE DAMN HOME?!?!?!

I have desided to rename the blog since we are now in Texas but alass nothing seems to jump out and grab might for a title...SO... I was wonder if you all have any ideas for the name of the blog. My ability to come up with something catchy has run dry. I am open to sugestions and ideas.

We have been in the house now for about a month and thing are slowly working there way into a home. The garage is just about done and we can get the beetle in. We have a few boxes left in the house to unpack and then it time to organize and put things away and have a garage sale.

Boxes, boxes and more boxes

We have gotten all of our stuff now and it is now time to put it ALL away. There are still a few boxes left in the house and then it is onto the garage and cleaning it up so we can get the cars back in. Michelle's room and the computer room are all unpacked out of the boxes. Now we just have to get it put up. I am begining to think the harder we try to get everything put away the more of a mess we seem to be making. We are going to have a garage sale once everything is unpacked.

We have 3 days left until we close on the house. As of June 13th 9:30am we will be signing the papers for our very first house. I am getting REALLY REALLY excited and I'm sure Brian is too. I know Pudgy (the dog) is looking forward to having a yard to play in again. Michelle will have plenty on new things to expore and check out. Brian will have a garage to tinker in until we get the shed built. The only downside is the movers who packed our stuff in Germany did NOT mark which room all of the boxes go in. All I can remember is that anything in red goes in the computer room and the garage.

Oh well looks like we'll have fun opening and unpacking boxes.

Yay it's ours

Well the seller acepted our offer. Yay! We won't be able to close until June 14th since that's when they will be able to get out. We are goign to have the inspection this Friday at 11:30.

Our realtor checked with the other one and she believes that they are taking the fridge so we went ahead and put a fridge as well as a washer and dryer in layaway at the BX. They were having grand opening sales and all whirlpool 10% off and also had individual 10% cupons. So we ended up getting almost $130 off the fridge and $35 off each the washer and dryer. I'm so glad that they actually have layaway here since it's not like we could put them anywhere.

I guess I'm going to have to go to work now :( Oh well

Michelle has been pretty good lately. She hasn't been complaining to much about the heat. It's been pretty cool today and windy. She's started grabing onto things and pulling her self up so she can stand. I don't think it will be to long before she'll start walking.

And after about 2 1/5 hours, we found one we really liked. Out of the 6 we looked at today, there were two that we really liked. Both of them are in good school areas and on the south side of town. Here is the info for the one were making an offer on.

We might have to buy a fridge, we'll have to check with the realtor. Either way it's not a big deal if we have to get one. The only thing we don't really like is how the front door opens into the living room but it's ok.

Ding Dong the van is FINALLY gone....

OK well almost. We are waiting for the green stuff to change hands, so to speak. We dropped the van off tonight 30 minutes before the place closed. They told us at 3:45PM that they wanted the van TONIGHT. Um...HELLO?!? I need to get a rental car first. The one place I did call the lady was a really big ... um ... yeah you know wicked witch sort. So I told her to forget it in a not so pleasant tone. We decided to just use the rental car company on Vogelweh. Brian told the lady at Sixt, the place at Vogelweh, the we wanted the cheapest 4 door they had. She gave us a Ford Fiesta and the thing only has 6,000 Km on it, which is less than 5,ooo miles. OH!! and did I mention the torrential down pour too?? Yeah We had to transfer Michelle, the car seat, and other stuff in to the rental. Let's just say said baby was not very happy about getting wet in the rain the two seconds she was in it covered up with a blanket.

As for the house we have had 4 different sets of people call the landlady, but only 2 have come to look at the house. There are few more people coming to look through out the week. Thankfully they are not coming until early afternoon. That works out for me and Michelle. We can get lunch out of the way and she's not super fussy or anything. I'm sure she has no clue what is going on but does notice a slight change in things.

two weeks

Well were down to two weeks before were back in the states! YAY! The "insert word here" movers came today and packed up the rest of the stuff. They missed two drawers in the kitchen with pot holders, plastic bags etc. Good thing we were already planning on mailing a box :p

But atleast we know what day we are leaving. For those of you who don't know it is......

Thursday April 13th!!!

We have to be at the airport at 800 in the morning. We will be getting out of the house on the 10th so we'll only be spending a few days in TLA.

The van is slowly becoming sold. Hopefully it will all be said and done soon. We told the "insert unkind word here" people who are buying it that they had until the 10th or else we were shipping it and they would be SOL. Which reminds me I need to call the bank and get stuff from them about the loan that I already know :p I hate stupid people.

Well I guess that's all for now. We need to get ready to go bowling soon.

Gone Its ALL Gone

Well the movers came on Thursday and it's all gone except for the few things we are sending unaccompanied. Michelle spent the day with a friend so we where lucky there. She left the house around 10AM just as the movers where getting started. The movers got here around 9AM or so and they left at about 7PM. We have 6 full sized crates, a half sized crate, and a quarter sized crate. So in all there are actually 8 crates total. They had to un pack the one crate a little bit to get the last few boxes to fit, if they didn't have to do that they would have been done sooner.

Yesterday we swept the upastairs and part of the downstairs. OH was there a lot of dust behind the TV on the floor. Most of what was Swiffered up off the floor was dog fur, imagine that. I think there was wnought furthrough out the house to make another small anmal of some kind. The cleaning shouldn't tae us very long to get done concidering there is practicaly NOTHING left in the house.

The count down is getting closer...

Well now there is the possibility that we could be leaving anywhere between the 1st of April and the 28th. Hopefully we won't leave till the middle of the month and that the bug will be there waiting on us.

Tomorrow I will go and get the appointments set for when they will come and get our stuff. They will probably come get the house hold stuff near the end of this week and then the unacompanied at the end of the month. That way if we end up leaving in the beginning of the month we will be able to get the house cleaned out and into TLA before we go.

Just a few steps closer to getting to Texas!! :)

We took the beetle to the shipping company on Wednesday morning. It took us a little over an hour to have the car inspected and to do all of the paper work along with deregistering the plates. Michelle was very good while we waited on Brian. She drank her sippy and watched the end of Men in Black II and the beginning of Monster-in-law. Of course keeping an 8 month old entertained for over an hour is an accomplishment in and among itself.

We where told that the beetle would arrive in Dallas on April 13th, which is good for us because the earliest day we can fly out of Germany is April 18th. However we have chosen to leave on April 28th. So we will see what will happen. Not much else is going on as far as getting ready to move. We are taking things one day at a time and getting things sorted and gone through before they come and pack up all of our stuff.

After looking at three or so houses things start to blend together. At the moment there are nine that we really like. The realtor that we've been working with has been really nice and helpful. They even sent us a relocation packet; which had a realtor guide for house buying and a catalog thing that tells about Abilene. The catalog thing is actually kind of cool because it's almost like a phone book of sort.

We found a four bedroom, three bath, two car garage with a dog run and pecan trees. It also has a marble jacuzzi in the one bath room. I sure don't need a marble jacuzzi but hey f it comes with the house I'm not gunna complain. It also has a two car carport off the front of the garage, which is nice when you want to wash or wax the car.

I will put up some picture of the house in my next post. the realtor's website was not working today.

Moving is such a joy

I have desided to start a blog for our move. This way I won't be filling my other blog up with the move and Brian can also help me keep everyone up dated too.
We are getting ready to ship the beetle back to the states next week. Brian is going to detail it this weekend so we can take it to the shippers on February 22nd. The only down side is that it has to be shipped whill the registration is still valid. At least with it going so early it will hopefully be there waiting on us.
